NOTRE APPROCHE
Depuis mars 2019, la Maison Sรฉsame est un collectif associatif engagรฉ sur le territoire du Nord de la France, principalement autour de la commune de Dunkerque. Lโassociation cherche ร expรฉrimenter de nouvelles maniรจres de faire, ensemble, sur un territoire frontalier, oรน des situations dโerrance humaine sont perpรฉtuรฉes. Dans ce contexte alarmant, la Maison Sรฉsame se veut รชtre une initiative citoyenne dโhospitalitรฉ. Cโest ainsi une dรฉmarche qui se veut pluridisciplinaire et ouverte ร tous.
A travers la crรฉation dโespaces de vie collectifs, nous questionnons lโacte dโaccueillir. Par la cohabitation et la rรฉflexion commune sur lโรฉvolution des lieux de vie partagรฉs, nous cherchons ร dรฉvelopper des refuges dโun nouveau genre. En effet, nous pensons que le ยซ vivre ensemble ยป sโimagine avant tout autour dโune table de cuisine, dans lโaction et la rencontre. Cโest une halte sur la route migratoire, sรฉcurisante ร la fois physiquement et psychologiquement pour les exilรฉ.e.s quโelle hรฉberge. Ici, tous ont accรจs aux besoins fondamentaux : sโabriter, se reposer, se nourrir, se laver et communiquer. Dans le mรชme temps, la Maison Sรฉsame se veut aussi รชtre un lieu dโexpรฉrimentation, de crรฉation, dโimagination et de passion.
Cโest avant tout une porte ouverte. Cโest un espace qui se construit au fur et ร mesure du passage de ses habitants. Cโest une halte dโune journรฉe, dโune semaine, dโun mois, ou peut รชtre dโune annรฉe. La Maison Sรฉsame grandit et รฉvolue en fonction des histoires qui la traversent et lโentourent. Elle rรฉsiste conjointement aux incohรฉrences de son temps. Elle cherche, dans la pensรฉe collective et la pratique manuelle, ร dรฉvelopper un environnement รฉquilibrรฉ et rempli de bon sens.
OUR APPROACH
Sesame House is a collective working in Northern France, mostly around the area of Dunkirk. We are wanting to experiment with new ways of working at the English-French border, where displacement is perpetuated. In this alarming context, Sesame House wants to be a citizensโ initiative of hospitality – a multidisciplinary approach, that is open to all.
As we create collective living spaces, we question the act of welcoming. Through cohabitation and joint reflection, our spaces evolve, helping us to develop shelter of a new kind. We think that โliving togetherโ starts around a kitchen table, with interactions and encounters. Sesame House hopes to provide a stopover on the migration journey, providing physical and mental wellbeing for those we host. Here, everyone has access to basic needs: shelter, rest, food and water. At the same time, Sesame House is intended to be a place of experimentation, creation, imagination and passion.
It is, first and foremost, an open door. The space is being built as its inhabitants pass through it. It is a break that lasts one day, one week, one month, or even one year. Sesame House grows and evolves according to the stories within and around it. It resists the inconsistencies of our time, and hopes to develop a balanced and healthy environment through collective thinking and manual effort from all who come through its doors.
NOS OBJECTIFS
Plusieurs perspectives apparaissent pour les futurs de lโassociation Maison Sรฉsame.
D’abord continuer ร accueillir, parce que c’est nรฉcessaire:
- Dรฉvelopper notre hรฉbergement solidaire pour construire un lieu de vie collectif toujours plus sain et vivifiant pour les personnes exilรฉ.e.s que nous recevons.
- Favoriser la crรฉation dโun rรฉseau citoyen dโhรฉbergeurs locaux pour soutenir les jeunes adultes exilรฉs qui finissent leur minoritรฉ.
- Dรฉvelopper de nouveaux espaces dโaccueil plus variรฉs et adaptรฉs ร une installation ร plus long terme.
Mais aussi poursuivre notre dรฉcouverte du territoire et de ses habitants :
- Mettre ร disposition des espaces de la Maison Sรฉsame pour permettre ร dโautres initiatives citoyennes de se dรฉvelopper.
- Organiser des รฉvรจnements fรฉdรฉrateurs et conviviaux qui rassemblent tous les militants de lโhospitalitรฉ !
- Construire un espace culturel ouvert ร tous oรน chacun peut sโexprimer, manger, danser et rรชver.
Et bien sรปr ร travers tout รงa, continuer ร partager, expรฉrimenter, faire ensemble!
OUR OBJECTIVES
Several new developments are emerging for the future of Sesame House as a charity.
Firstly, to continue welcoming, because it is necessary, by:
- Developing our hosting in order to build an increasingly healthy and invigorating community for the displaced people we welcome.
- Fostering the creation of a citizensโ accommodation network, where local hosts support displaced young adults, on the brink of turning 18.
- Developing new welcoming spaces, that are more diverse, and better adapted to long-term residencies.
Then, to continue our discovery of the territory and its inhabitants, by:
- Providing spaces at Sesame House to allow other citizensโ initiatives to grow.
- Organising events that are friendly and that bring together all activists around hospitality!
- Building a cultural space that is open to all, where everyone can express themselves, eat, dance and dream.
And of course, all of that whilst continuing to share, experiment, live and do things together!
